Barriers to Adopt Biosecurity at Smallholder Farmers

Abstract Biosecurity is one of the policies Indonesian government that should be followed on cattle farms to maintain healthy and disease-free cattle. The objective this research was identify barriers adopting biosecurity smallholder farmers. This conducted in Bone Regency. study enlisted participation 115 beef ranchers. data acquired through surveys observation as well in-depth interviews. There were total 17 questions. Guttman scale used see if precautions have been implemented. A score 1 given yes, while a 0 no. processed using SPSS software version 23 descriptively analyzed by frequency percentage table. results showed farmers dominated men. respondents mostly between ages 41 50 (58.26%). majority had completed primary school (55.65%). According family size, 74.78% less than 5 dependents. experience raising those with fewer 10 years (60.00%). Mixed farming (87.83%) most common way for make living. head (79.13%). Only 33.04% who did sanitation cage 84.35% cages not fence. quarantined 93.04% cases. cowshed opened public 97.38% revealed adoption lack knowledge (64.35%), insufficient time (20.87%) high cost (14.78%).
