چکیده

A generalized Wigner–Moyal statistical theory of radiation is used to obtain a general dispersion relation for stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) driven by broadband field with arbitrary statistics. The monochromatic limit recovered from our result, reproducing the classic relation. behavior growth rate instability as simultaneous function bandwidth pump wave, intensity incident and wave number scattered further explored numerically solving Our results show that SBS can be reduced 1/3 0.3 nm, typical experimental parameters.

Thermal Effects Study on Stimulated Brillouin Light Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fiber

we investigate the temperature-dependences of the Brillouin frequency shift in three different kind of single-mode fibers using a heterodyne method for sensing temperature. Positive dependences coefficients of 0.77, 0.56 and 1.45MHz/0C are demonstrated for 25 km long single-mode fiber, 10 km long non-zero dispersion shifted fiber and 100 m photonic crystal fiber, respectively. The results indic...

Incoherent beam combining using stimulated Brillouin scattering in multimode fibers.

A beam combining technique for producing a single, spatially coherent beam from two mutually incoherent (temporally and spatially) lasers is demonstrated and the spatial coherence properties of the resulting beam are characterized. The technique is based on simultaneous excitation of stimulated Brillouin scattering by two independent lasers operating at two different wavelengths in a long multi...

Anomalous stimulated Brillouin scattering via ultraslow light.

We study stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in an ultradispersive coherent medium, and show that the properties of SBS change drastically when the group velocity of light in the material approaches or becomes less than the speed of sound. In particular, forward SBS not allowed in a dispersionless bulk medium takes place in the coherent medium.

Kinetic effects in stimulated Brillouin scattering

The role of ion and electron kinetic effects in the nonlinear evolution of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is investigated by means of particle-in-cell numerical simulations. The simulations were carried out in one and two spatial dimensions (1D and 2D), with a full PIC code, in which both ions and electrons are kinetic. The full PIC simulations are compared with those obtained from a hyb...

Recent advancements in stimulated - Brillouin - scattering slow light

A review on the work performed by our group on slow light via Stimulating Brillouin scattering (SBS) is presented. We describe the fundamentals of the slow-light phenomena and how SBS can be used to obtain tunable optical delays in optical fibers. We then review the mechanisms to overcome the limitations imposed by the narrow SBS resonance bandwidth and to optimize the slow-light performance fo...
