چکیده
This paper deals with the improvement of material surface state friction stir welding paths modified in situ by plastic deformation through ball burnishing. The metallurgical and topological states materials joined this technique are typically detrimental to ulterior performance workpiece, it is believed that burnishing can improve these enhance functioning. study divided into two phases. first one experimental consists aluminum AA2024-T3 plates while combining different tool rotations speeds. Then, line deformed locally topology deep hardness distribution measured discussed, evolution mechanical properties assessed tensile tests. second phase oriented towards estimating residual stresses pre-existing models developed same authors using ANSYS®. Friction experimentation measurements show a decrease values all compared original material. dominant factor affecting texture rotational speed tool, rupture point test located distinct zone lowest value microhardness on advancing side. higher ratio speed, lower roughness value. Fatigue of Friction Stir Welded 2024-T351 Aluminium Alloy
Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld. Fatigue failure from the surrounding material was essentially conventional, initiating from large S-phase intermetallic particles and growing in a macroscopic mode I manner. ...
متن کاملA Study of Residual Stresses and Microstructure in 2024-T3 Aluminum Friction Stir Butt Welds
Three-dimensional residual stress mapping of an aluminum 2024-T3 arcan specimen, butt-welded by the friction stir technique, was performed by neutron diffraction. Results indicate that the residual stress distribution profiles across the weld region are asymmetric with respect to the weld centerline, with the largest gradients in the measured residual stress components occurring on the advancin...
متن کاملMulti-Track Friction Stir Lap Welding of 2024 Aluminum Alloy: Processing, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties
Friction stir lap welding (FSLW) raises the possibility of fabricating high-performance aluminum components at low cost and high efficiency. In this study, we mainly applied FSLW to fabricate multi-track 2024 aluminum alloy without using tool tilt angle, which is important for obtaining defect-free joint but significantly increases equipment cost. Firstly, systematic single-track FSLW experimen...
متن کاملTensile properties and fracture locations of friction-stir-welded joints of 2017-T351 aluminum alloy
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a new and promising welding process that can produce low-cost and high-quality joints of heat-treatable aluminum alloys because it does not need consumable filler materials and can eliminate some welding defects such as crack and porosity. In order to demonstrate the friction stir weldability of the 2017-T351 aluminum alloy and determine optimum welding parameters...
متن کاملMicrostructure and Crystallographic Texture Characterization of Friction Stir Welded Thin AA2024 Aluminum Alloy
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a promising technique to join aluminum alloys without having problems encountered during fusion welding processes. In the present work, the evolution of microstructure and texture in friction stir welded thin AA2024 aluminum alloy are examined by electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) technique. The sheets with 0.8 mm thickness were successfully welded by frict...
