BALANCED APPROACH FOR TENDERING PRACTICE AT THE PRE-CONTRACT STAGE: THE UK PRACTITIONER’S PERSPECTIVE

Tender documents often lack clarity and are incomplete, making it difficult for contractors to appropriately price projects. A general view is that the quality of tender has declined, which affected bidding strategies contractors. However, academic literature focused mainly upon views To obtain a more balanced tendering practices, in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 practitioners (client, consultant, contractor) who involved in common project at same time UK construction industry. The contractor was satisfied had been consistent. By contrast, both client consultant agreed an ongoing issue. During study revealed practice influenced by relationship between stakeholders or unbalanced access information rather than accuracy analysis documentations. Tendering practices proposed efficient ways improving environment examined. Using awareness other stakeholder’s perspectives, this can help establish suitable mitigate risk stage, could effectively be implemented
