AZ31-Mg metal matrix composite in metallurgical and testing approaches

The objective of this research is to experimentally investigate the metallurgical, mechanical, and tribological behavior [Formula: see text], SiC, text] reinforced AZ31 magnesium metal matrix composite (MMC) fabricated via powder metallurgy process. Accordingly, mixing powders was carried out through ball milling operation at various times with constant speeds. compaction milled on hydraulic press pressures. improvement wear resistance performance 10 5 vol.% SiC were revealed around 12.9% 25.8%. fracture mechanisms optimal specimen resulting from compression test studied under SEM observation it that both ductile brittle fractures occurred. results confirmation an 2.04 g/cm 3 , 13%, 110.35 MPa, 1293.399 MPa for actual density, porosity, ultimate strength, hardness, respectively. uniform nature particle distribution observed in micrograph investigation microstructure sample. average size sample also obtained 809.14 nm. proposed material expected be useful automotive aerospace applications precisely pistons wings airplane aerospace.
