Axial Compression Behavior of FRP Confined Laminated Timber Columns under Cyclic Loadings

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been proved to be effective improve the structural strength and ductility for column structures. An experimental study was conducted investigate compressive performance of FRP confined glued-laminated timber (GLT) cross-laminated (CLT) columns. A total 60 specimens two dimensions in height using different types, thickness, laminate types were tested under cyclic axial compression loads. This focuses on capacity new composited structure. For this purpose, a loading protocol designed, including force-dependent pre-load an amplitude-increasing displacement-dependent load. The results showed that ultimate load considerably promoted by sheets. Wrapping sheets led average improvement 29% 24% CLT GLT specimens, respectively, compared initial stiffness unreinforced specimens. Using sheets, energy dissipation increased 358% 266%, respectively.
