چکیده

Stumps and knotwood of Norway spruce (Picea abies) are valuable sources wood extractives. Although lignans from have already been utilized in value-added products, the behavior valorization stump-derived extractives less studied. In this study, composition lipophilic hydrophilic extractives, particularly lignans, various stump samples (stump bottom, heart, crushed samples) stored outside were Lipophilic extracts separated with an accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) apparatus using n-hexane hot water, respectively. The detailed content was then determined by gas chromatography equipped a flame ionization detector mass (GC-FID/MS) high-performance liquid (HPLC). bottom samples, apparent decrease total dissolved solids observed all major groups during storage: sugars, stilbene–glucosides, organic acids, resin fatty diterpenoids, sterols. While definitive could not be demonstrated due to moderately high variation among different good indication accessibility important weathered stumps obtained. Of identified 79% 53% them being composed 7-hydroxymatairesinol (HMR), 16% conidendric acid, 12% todolactol. After 12 weeks storage, amount 15.3 mg/g dry matter 17.0 heart 10.2 samples.

Cambial response of Norway spruce to modified carbon availability by phloem girdling

We tested the hypothesis that increase in carbon (C) availability in Norway spruce saplings (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) intensifies cambial cell division and increases cell lumen diameter (CLD) and cell wall thickness (CWT) when water availability is adequate. To accomplish this, we experimentally subjected 6-year-old P. abies saplings (n = 80 trees) to two levels of soil humidity (watered versus...

Influence of nitrogen and phosphorous availability and ozone stress on Norway spruce seedlings.

Four-year-old Norway spruce (Picea abies L. (Karst.)) seedlings were exposed to ambient and elevated (1.5 x ambient in 1997 and 1.6 x ambient in 1998) ozone concentrations [O3] and three nitrogen (N) and two phosphorus (P) availabilities: "optimal" values (control); 70% of the control N and P values (LN and LP); and 150% of the control N value (HN). Treatments were applied in an open-field ozon...

Cell Wall-Bound Phenolics from Norway Spruce (Picea abies) Needles

Secondary products, such as phenolics, accumulate predominantly in the form of hydrophilic conjugates in the vacuoles (intraprotoplasmic storage) of plants [1—3]. Also there are many reports on their extraprotoplasmic location, e.g. as exudates [4] or cell wall components. The latter include the polymer lignin [5], as well as monomeric hydrolyzable phenolics, which are mainly hydroxycinnamic ac...
