Autonomous Decision-Making While Drilling

چکیده

The drilling process is complex because unexpected situations may occur at any time. Furthermore, the system extremely long and slender, therefore prone to vibrations often being dominated by transient periods. Adding fact that measurements are not well distributed along system, with majority of real-time only available top side having access very sparse data from downhole, poorly observed making it difficult use standard control methods. Therefore, achieve completely autonomous operations, necessary utilize a method capable estimating internal state parsimonious information while able make decisions will keep operation safe but effective. A solution enabling decision-making has been developed. It relies on an optimization time reach section total depth (TD). estimated TD decomposed into effective spent in conducting likely lost solve events. This problem solved using Markov decision method. Several example scenarios have run virtual rig environment test validity concept. found adapt itself various conditions, as for aggressive when runs smoothly uncertainty states low, also more cautious downhole conditions deteriorate or observations tend indicate erratic behavior, which prior event.

Overvaluing autonomous decision-making.

Current capacity-based legislation and practice overvalues autonomy to the detriment of other ethical principles. A balanced ethical approach would consider the patient's right to treatment, their relationships and interactions with society and not solely the patient's right to liberty and autonomous decision-making.

Thermal Response Test While Drilling

Knowledge of the ground thermal conductivity is of importance when designing borehole heat exchanger (BHE) systems. As thermal conductivity for any specific rock type varies due to its mineral content, porosity, pore fluid and anisotropy, it is preferable determined in-situ. Choudhary (1976) suggested a method for determining the thermal conductivity which analysed the heat transfer during the ...

Automatized Decision Making for Autonomous Agents

Utility theory and the principle of maximising the expected utility have, within the multi-agent community, had a great influence on multi-agent based decision. Even though this principle is often useful when evaluating a decision situation it is virtually impossible, except in very artificial situations, to use the more basic decision rules with its unrealistically strong requirements for the ...

Hierarchical Decision Making by Autonomous Agents

Often, decision making involves autonomous agents that are structured in a complex hierarchy, representing e.g. authority. Typically the agents share the same body of knowledge, but each may have its own, possibly conflicting, preferences on the available information. We model the common knowledge base for such preference agents as a logic program under the extended answer set semantics, thus a...

Online Decision-Making for Scalable Autonomous Systems

We present a general formal model called MODIA that can tackle a central challenge for autonomous vehicles (AVs), namely the ability to interact with an unspecified, large number of world entities. In MODIA, a collection of possible decisionproblems (DPs), known a priori, are instantiated online and executed as decision-components (DCs), unknown a priori. To combine the individual action recomm...
