Automatic Detection of Occulted Hard X-Ray Flares Using Deep-Learning Methods

چکیده
We present a concept for machine-learning classification of hard X-ray (HXR) emissions from solar flares observed by the Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (RHESSI), identifying that are either occulted limb or located on disk. Although HXR observations important particle-acceleration studies, data analyses past were time consuming and required specialized expertise. Machine-learning techniques promising this situation, we constructed sample model to demonstrate using deep-learning technique. Input spectrograms easily produced RHESSI data. The can detect without need image reconstruction nor visual inspection experts. A technique convolutional neural networks was used in regarding input as images. Our achieved accuracy better than 90 %, ability application method event screening an alert successfully demonstrated.

YOHKOH remnants: partially occulted flares in hard X-rays
Context. Modern solar X-ray imagers did not breakthrough the problem of detailed diagnostics of faint hard X-ray sources in the presence of stronger ones. This is the case of the impulsive phase of solar flares in which footpoint sources are usually stronger than loop-top ones. Aims. For this aim, flares being partially occulted by the solar limb, are the best reservoir of our knowledge about h...
متن کاملGamma-ray and Hard X-ray Imaging of Solar Flares
We discuss the scientific and technical aspects of high-resolution γ-ray and X-ray imaging of solar flares. The scientific necessity for imaging observations of solar flares and the implications of future observations for the study of solar flare electrons and ions are considered. Performance parameters for a future hard X-ray and γ-ray imager are then summarized. We briefly survey techniques f...
متن کاملThe Ulysses catalog of solar hard X-ray flares
Ulysses was launched in October 1990, and its Solar X-ray/Cosmic Gamma-ray Burst Experiment (GRB) has provided more than 13 years of uninterrupted observations of solar X-ray flare activity. Due to the large variation of the relative solar latitude and longitude of the spacecraft orbit with respect to the Earth, the perspective of the GRB instrument often differed significantly from that of X-r...
متن کاملKappa distribution and hard X - ray emission of solar flares
Aims. We investigate whether the so-called kappa distribution, often used to fit electron distributions detected in-situ in solar wind, can describe electrons producing the hard X-ray emission in solar flares. Methods. Using Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic imager (RHESSI) flare data we fit spatially and feature integrated spectra assuming kappa distribution for mean electron flux spectru...
متن کاملRelations between concurrent hard X-ray sources in solar flares
Context. Solar flares release a large fraction of their energy into non-thermal electrons, but it is not clear where and how. Bremsstrahlung X-rays are observed from the corona and chromosphere. Aims. We aim to characterize the acceleration process by the coronal source and its leakage toward the footpoints in the chromosphere. The relations between the sources reflect the geometry and constric...
