Automatic Control of Hot Metal Temperature

To achieve the automation of blast furnace operation, an automatic control system for hot metal temperature (HMT) was developed. Nonlinear model predictive (NMPC) which predicts up to ten-hour-ahead HMT and calculates appropriate actions pulverized coal rate (PCR) constructed. Simulation validation showed that NMPC algorithm generates similar those by operators can be maintained within ±10 °C set point. The using then implemented in actual plant.
