Autoignition of isolated n-heptane droplets in air and hot combustion products at microturbine conditions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Spontaneous ignition of isolated n-heptane droplets with initial diameters 20–100 ?m is simulated using air at 4 atm and 700–1200 K, which includes the typical operating conditions recuperated microturbines. Because some fuel in a combustor may be sprayed or carried to near recirculation zone, simulations use mixture pure hot combustion products as oxidiser. The flame structures, evaporation times, autoignition times both physical fraction spaces for different are presented compared. variables examined include preheat temperature, amount dilution products, droplet diameter, oxidiser oxygen concentration. results show that microturbine fully evaporate before ignition, suggesting prevaporised concept suitable decreases delay time mainly by raising temperature. Low-temperature chemistry does not have significant effect on because adding even small can increase temperature higher than temperatures favourable low-temperature kinetics. cool only observed 100 low temperatures, but two-stage observed.

EXTINCTION AND AUTOIGNITION OF n-HEPTANE IN COUNTERFLOW CONFIGURATION

A study was performed to elucidate the mechanisms of extinction and autoignition of n-heptane in strained laminar flows under non-premixed conditions. A previously developed detailed mechanism made up of 2540 reversible elementary reactions among 556 species was the starting point for the study. The detailed mechanism was previously used to calculate ignition delay times in homogeneous reactors...

Observations of soot during droplet combustion at low gravity: heptane and heptane/monochloroaIkane mixtures

Experimental observations of the combustion of sooting fuel droplets, performed in a drop tower to create a low gravity environment, are reported. Free n-heptane droplets and suspended droplets of heptane. monochloroalkanes. and mixtures of monochloro-octane and heptane were studied. Initial droplet diameters ranged from 0.4 to I. 1 mm. The results suggest that soot may influence droplet vapori...

Experimental Study of Autoignition and Combustion Gas-air Mixtures in Dual Fuel Engine

The paper shows a test results of single cylinder, direct injected, self ignited dual fuel engine. One has analysed a combustion parameters calculated on base of recorded indicator diagrams. The comparison included: the ignition delay period, the cylinder pressure, the rate of pressure rise, the average medium temperature, the heat release rate, the total combustion time and the indicated effic...

Autoignition of Binary Fuel Blends of n-Butanol and n-Heptane in a Rapid Compression Machine

Autoignition of binary blends of n-butanol and n-heptane was studied in a rapid compression machine at an equivalence ratio of 0.4 and a compressed pressure of 20 bar with the compressed temperature varying from 700 K to 907 K. Within the temperature range covered in this study, no cool flame or negative temperature coefficient behavior was observed for neat n-butanol. With the presence of n-he...

Combustion of Unsupported Methanol/dodecanol Mixture Droplets at Low Gravity

Experiments are reported on the combustion of free or unsupported methanol/dodecanol mixture droplets in a reduced gravity environment. The experiments were conducted in a drop tower. The Grashof number (based on drop diameter) in the moving frame of reference was on the order of 10 -5 for the period of droplet burning. Combustion of the mixture droplets was characterized by a multi-stage proce...
