Atmospheric heat redistribution effect on emission spectra of Hot-Jupiters

چکیده
Hot Jupiters are the most studied and easily detectable exoplanets for transit observations. However, correlation between atmospheric flow emission spectra of such planets is still not understood. Due to huge day-night temperature contrast in hot Jupiter, thermal redistribution through circulation has a significant impact on vertical temperature-pressure structure spectra. In present work, we aim study variation profiles due different amounts heat redistribution. For this purpose, first derive an analytical relation parameter f emitted flux from uppermost layers Jupiter. We adopt three possible values under isotropic approximation as 14,12 23 full-redistribution, semi-redistribution no-redistribution cases respectively calculate corresponding Next, model by numerically solving radiative transfer equations using discrete space theory formalism. demonstrate that both susceptible function. A reduction yields inversion hence increases amount flux. Finally, revisits Jupiter XO-1b profile degeneracy case show non-inversion best explains planet’s observed dayside

Atmospheric escape from hot Jupiters
The extra-solar planet HD209458b has been found to have an extended atmosphere of escaping atomic hydrogen (Vidal-Madjar et al. 2003), suggesting that “hot Jupiters” closer to their parent stars could evaporate. Here we estimate the atmospheric escape (so called evaporation rate) from hot Jupiters and their corresponding life time against evaporation. The calculated evaporation rate of HD209458...
متن کاملAtmospheric Sulfur Photochemistry on Hot Jupiters
We develop a new 1D photochemical kinetics code to address stratospheric chemistry and stratospheric heating in hot Jupiters. Here we address optically active S-containing species and CO2 at 1200 ≤ T ≤ 2000 K. HS (mercapto) and S2 are highly reactive species that are generated photochemically and thermochemically from H2S with peak abundances between 1-10 mbar. S2 absorbs UV between 240 and 340...
متن کاملThe Influence of Atmospheric Dynamics on the Infrared Spectra and Light Curves of Hot Jupiters
We explore the infrared spectrum of a three-dimensional dynamical model of planet HD 209458b as a function of orbital phase. The dynamical model predicts dayside atmospheric pressure-temperature profiles that are much more isothermal at pressures less than 1 bar than one-dimensional radiative-convective models have found. The resulting dayside thermal spectra are very similar to a blackbody, an...
متن کاملRoche lobe effects on the atmospheric loss of “ Hot Jupiters ”
Observational evidence of a hydrodynamically evaporating upper atmosphere of HD209458b (Vidal-Madjar et al. 2003; 2004) and recent theoretical studies on evaporation scenarios of “Hot Jupiters” in orbits around solar-like stars with the age of the Sun indicate that the upper atmospheres of short-periodic exoplanets experience hydrodynamic blow-off conditions resulting in loss rates of the order...
متن کاملAtmospheric Circulation of Hot Jupiters: A Review of Current Understanding
Hot Jupiters are new laboratories for the physics of giant planet atmospheres. Subject to unusual forcing conditions, the circulation regime on these planets may be unlike anything known in the Solar System. Characterizing the atmospheric circulation of hot Jupiters is necessary for reliable interpretation of the multifaceted data currently being collected on these planets. We discuss several f...
