Antifungal activity of essential oils against ABSTRACT: is soil‐borne phytopathogen with has wide geographical distribution, being responsible for causing serious economic losses inciting stem and root rot symptoms infected plants. There growing worldwide demand new treatments that promote food nutritional security, substances are more effective less harmful to the balance ecosystems. Thus, this research aimed evaluate antifungal effect (EOs) on mycelial growth The EOs used were tested at 0.8; 1.6; 3.2; 6.4 12.8 per surface PDA (potato-dextrose-agar) culture medium. Mycelial inhibition rate analyzed. evaluations consisted measurements diameters days incubation. cinnamon EO, from initial concentration; oregano cloves EOs, concentration 3.2 demonstrated basil, tea tree, citronella, mint thyme showed fungistatic activity. Macrophomina phaseolina is one of the deadliest necrotrophic fungal pathogens that infect more than 500 plant species including major food, fiber, and oil crops all throughout the globe. It secretes a cocktail of ligninolytic enzymes along with other hydrolytic enzymes for degrading the woody lignocellulosic plant cell wall and penetrating into the host tissue. Among them, lignin peroxidase has...
