Asymmetric Problems and Stochastic Process Models of Traffic Assignment
There is a spectrum of asymmetric assignment problems to which existing results on uniqueness of equilibrium do not apply. Moreover, multiple equilibria may be seen to exist in a number of simple examples of real-life phenomena, including interactions at priority junctions, responsive traffic signals, multiple user classes, and multi-modal choices. In contrast, recent asymptotic results on the ...
متن کاملOn Calibration and Application of Logit-Based Stochastic Traffic Assignment Models
There is a growing recognition that discrete choice models are capable of providing a more realistic picture of route choice behavior. In particular, influential factors other than travel time that are found to affect the choice of route trigger the application of random utility models in the route choice literature. This paper focuses on path-based, logit-type stochastic route choice models, i...
متن کاملAsymmetric Multiclass Traffic Assignment : a coherent
Behavioural and mathematical problems in the current formulation of the asymmetric multiclass traac assignment model are brought to light. A new formulation is presented that resolves these diiculties. The formulation is quantiied, and the result is a general class of coherent, multiclass cost functions. A numerical calibration exercise for a car and truck class model concludes the paper.
متن کاملAnalytical Dynamic Traffic Assignment Models
The rapid development of intelligent transportation system technologies and the policy emphasis on their deployment have increased the importance of predictive dynamic network flow models, especially so-called dynamic network loading and dynamic traffic assignment models. In this chapter we provide a critical review of analytic models used in predicting time-varying urban network flows. Specifi...
متن کاملHyperpath Formulations of Traffic Assignment Problems
1.1 INTRODUCTION Traditional models of traac assignment usually assume that ow is distributed along paths of the underlying network. In this presentation, we argue that several models can be enhanced by considering that the physical path travelled by a given user depends on a sequence of events (random or not) that occur at the nodes of the network, and whose outcome is only revealed once the u...
