Association of Restless Legs Syndrome with Glycemic Control and Psychological Status in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: A Systematic Review

Background: Evidence is still lacking regarding the association of restless leg syndrome (RLS) on glycemic control and psychological status in diabetic patients.
 Aims: To summarize evidence RLS with adults type 2 diabetes.
 Methods: The literature search compassed all English-published studies from inception till 21st May 2023 electronic databases MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web Science, ProQuest. terms included “Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2” AND "restless legs syndrome”. We created a narrative synthesis for outcomes pooling glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.
 Results: Sixteen were included. Pooling HbA1c levels showed lack significant differences between RLS+ve RLS-ve groups. Seven out eight decrease sleep quality. Three assessed quality life found marked patients. Two four depression, while other two non-significant increase RLS.
 Conclusion: There no that patients associated poor control. suggests reduction life. inconclusive depression due to low number studies. Physicians should be aware disorders endeavour identify alleviate them.
