چکیده
Objective: To assess the oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) to (LDL) ratio as an indicator of subclinical atherosclerosis in haemodialysis patients Methodology: This case control study was carried out at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center Karachi, from January December 2018. The were selected dialysis center (group B) whereas controls recruited normal healthy population A). access status atherosclerosis, doppler ultrasonography technique employed detect intima media thickness (IMT) common carotid artery subjects well controls. Lipid peroxidation detected by serum LDL levels. Results: mean group A 0.43±0.02, B samples 1.0±0.09. Ox-LDL/LDL 0.003±0.001. While Ox-LDL: 0.012±0.002. Ox-LDL found have a positive linear relationship with (r=0.8) group. Conclusion: is much enhanced on maintenance showing increased lipid peroxidation. has which marker sub clinical atherosclerosis. Early detection elevated will help nephrologists early and treatment

Clinical significance of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate the significance of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in the context of low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). BACKGROUND Earlier studies support an inverse correlation between circulating HDL-C and coronary risk in patients with normal or elevated LDL-C. METHODS This study involved 4,188 patients attending the Palo Alto Veterans Adminis...
متن کاملImpact of plasma oxidized low-density lipoprotein removal on atherosclerosis.
BACKGROUND Several clinical studies of statin therapy have demonstrated that lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol prevents atherosclerotic progression and decreases cardiovascular mortality. In addition, oxidized LDL (oxLDL) is suggested to play roles in the formation and progression of atherosclerosis. However, whether lowering oxLDL alone, rather than total LDL, affects atheroge...

accumulating evidence suggest that in patients with diabetes mellitus, increased rate of lipoprotein oxidation and oxidative stress have important role in diabetic angiopathy, including nephropathy. to evaluate the association of oxidized low- density lipoprotein (ox-ldl) with the development of diabetic nephropathy, plasma level of ox-ldl were measured in 70 diabetic patients with macro and 63...
متن کاملOxidized low-density lipoprotein in postmenopausal women.
BACKGROUND Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) leads to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, the most frequent causes of death worldwide. After menopause, lipid and lipoprotein metabolism changes and women are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease compared to fertile women. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of serum oxLDL in postmenopausal women and to identi...
متن کاملNon-oxidative modification of native low-density lipoprotein by oxidized low-density lipoprotein.
The oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, although little is known as yet about the precise mechanism of oxidation in vivo. The studies presented here demonstrate that, in the absence of cells or transition metals, oxidized LDL can modify native LDL through co-incubation in vitro such as to increase its net negative c...
