Association of cardiothoracic ratio with heart failure hospitalization in patients with atrial fibrillation: the Fushimi AF Registry

چکیده
Abstract Background Chest radiography is the most common diagnostic imaging test in clinical medicine, and cardiothoracic ratio (CTR) a readily available non-invasive tool with which to assess volume status cardiomegaly. However, it remains unknown whether CTR on chest associated incidence of HF hospitalization AF patients unclear. Methods The Fushimi Registry community-based prospective survey Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. inclusion criterion registry documentation at 12-lead electrocardiogram or Holter monitoring any time, there are no exclusion criteria. We started enroll from March 2011, follow-up data were for 4,489 by end August 2021. In present study, 3,727 examined. divided into two groups according their baseline; Higher group (CTR ≥50.0%, n=2,696) Lower <50.0%, n=1,031), compared background outcomes between groups. Results proportion female was grater group, older. had higher prevalence HF, hypertension chronic kidney disease. During median 3,033 days, Kaplan-Meier analysis, rates (Higher group: 2.5% per person-year vs. 1.1%; p<0.01). Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis revealed that (≥50.0%) an independent determinant hospitalization. Furthermore, when we four based quartile CTR; Q1 (CTR<49.0%), Q2 (49.0≤CTR<53.8%), Q3 (53.8≤CTR<59.0%), Q4 (59.0%≤CTR), more frequent CTR, regardless presence absence prior (Figure). Conclusion Japanese patients, significantly hospitalization, HF. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Predictors for Stroke and Death in Non-Anticoagulated Asian Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: The Fushimi AF Registry
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of stroke and death. Data on the predictors for stroke and death in 'real-world' AF patients are limited, especially from large prospective Asian cohorts. METHODS The Fushimi AF Registry is a community-based prospective survey designed to enroll all AF patients who visited the participating medical institutions in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan...
متن کاملIncreased Heart Rate Is Associated With Higher Mortality in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation (AF): Results From the Outcomes Registry for Better Informed Treatment of AF (ORBIT-AF)
BACKGROUND Most patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) require rate control; however, the optimal target heart rate remains under debate. We aimed to assess rate control and subsequent outcomes among patients with permanent AF. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 2812 US outpatients with permanent AF in the Outcomes Registry for Better Informed Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation. Resting heart rate ...
متن کاملClinical Features and Prognosis in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and Prior Stroke: Comparing the Fushimi and Darlington AF Registries
BACKGROUND Ethnic differences in clinical characteristics, stroke risk profiles and outcomes among atrial fibrillation (AF) patients may exist. We therefore compared AF patients with previous stroke from Japan and the United Kingdom (UK). METHODS We compared clinical characteristics, stroke risk and outcomes among AF patients from the Fushimi AF registry who had experienced a previous stroke ...
متن کاملDrivers of hospitalization for patients with atrial fibrillation: Results from the Outcomes Registry for Better Informed Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation (ORBIT-AF).
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac dysrhythmia and contributes significantly to health care expenditures. We sought to assess the frequency and predictors of hospitalization in patients with AF. METHODS The ORBIT-AF registry is a prospective, observational study of outpatients with AF enrolled from June 29, 2010, to August 9, 2011. The current analysis included 9,4...
