چکیده

Purpose. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between prostanoid [thromboxane (TxA2) and prostacyclin (PGI2)] levels in synovial fluid infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP)/ suprapatellar (SPFP) thickness as well other clinical findings knee steoarthritis (OA) patients.
Materials Methods: 16 patients with OA effusion were included. average pain evaluated using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). pain, stiffness, physical functions Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). 6-keto-PGF1α, stable metabolite PGI2, TxB2, TxA2, measured an enzyme immunoassay.
Results: 6-keto-PGF1α significantly greater than TxB2 OA. TxB2/6-keto- PGF1α ratio negatively correlated SPFP cartilage thickness, respectively. IPFP positively volume. WOMAC scores VAS-activity VAC-evening scores.
Conclusion: In comparison 6-keto- fluid, seem be more associated ultrasonographic

Association between synovial fluid levels of aggrecan ARGS fragments and radiographic progression in knee osteoarthritis

INTRODUCTION Aggrecanase cleavage at the (392)Glu-(393)Ala bond in the interglobular domain (IGD) of aggrecan, releasing N-terminal (393)ARGS fragments, is an early key event in arthritis and joint injuries. We determined whether synovial fluid (SF) levels of ARGS-aggrecan distinguish subjects with progressive radiographic knee osteoarthritis (ROA) from those with stable or no ROA. METHODS We...

Association between synovial fluid levels of inorganic pyrophosphate and short term radiographic outcome of knee osteoarthritis.

OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that high concentrations of extracellular inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi), which associate with increased cell synthesis and turnover in cartilage, may act as a marker for structural outcome in knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHOD One hundred and thirty five consecutive patients referred to hospital with knee OA (59 men, 76 women; mean age 71 years, range 41-88) wer...

Synovial Fluid White Cell Count in Knee Osteoarthritis: Association with Structural Findings and Treatment Response

OBJECTIVE Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease with a significant inflammatory component. The aim of this analysis was to determine the relationship between synovial fluid (SF) white blood cell (WBC) count and 2 parameters: disease severity and the reduction in knee pain after intraarticular (IA) steroid injection. METHODS Subjects with painful knee OA were recruited for participation in an open-...

The association of adipokine levels in plasma and synovial fluid with the severity of knee osteoarthritis.

OBJECTIVE We sought to determine the association between plasma and SF levels of leptin and adiponectin in patients with knee OA. METHODS Plasma and SF levels of adipokines and soluble leptin receptor (sOB-R) were determined by ELISA in 96 patients with knee OA at different stages, according to Ahlback's classification. RESULTS Levels of adiponectin, leptin, sOB-R and free leptin in plasma ...

Correlation between sialic acid levels in the synovial fluid and the radiographic severity of knee osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA) is associated with the presence of inflammation. Sialic acid (SA), an acetylated derivative of neuraminic acid, is reported to be a useful biomarker of inflammation. The aim of the present study was to investigate the correlation between SA levels in the serum and synovial fluid (SF) and radiographic severity in patients with knee OA. A total of 234 patients with knee OA wer...
