Association between house dust mites sensitization and level of asthma control and severity in children attending Mansoura University Children’s Hospital

Abstract Background House dust mites (HDM) are considered as a major source of indoor aeroallergen all over the world that precipitate allergic reactions including rhinoconjunctivitis, food allergy, atopic dermatitis, and asthma. In this study, we aimed to assess clinical laboratory profile some Egyptian asthmatic children who sensitized house determine association HDM sensitization severity asthma according recent GINA guidelines. Results The most frequent phenotype among HDM-positive group was cough (96.7%), while phenotypic wheeze in negative (96.7%). There is statistically significant difference between studied cases classified sensitivity regarding level control (50.0% were uncontrolled sensitive 56.7% non-sensitive controlled ( p = 0.001*). Severity treatment results significantly higher (26.7% versus 3.3% HDM), 0.017. Conclusions associated mainly with rhinitis our cases. increases decreases ability symptoms.
