Assessments of Sign Language Development

چکیده
Since the late nineties, several assessments to track and assess sign language acquisition in deaf hard of hearing (DHH) children have been developed standardised for some languages (Herman, Rowley, Mason, & Morgan, 2014; Rosenburg, Lieberman, Caselli, Hoffmeister, 2020). These provided important insights into how DHH acquire can be impacted by developmental or acquired disorders (Mason et al., 2010; Quinto-Pozos, Forber-Pratt, Singleton, 2011). Moreover, development has enabled research studies show associations between language, cognitive skills literacy (Botting 2017). The availability confirmed that from DHH, signing families achieve similar milestones as their counterparts spoken language. Yet measures date are insufficient tracking bimodal bilingual children, particularly progress through later school years. This article reviews hitherto mentioned new issues test standardization related status research, size nature population signers, tester with a specific focus on used practitioners rather than those designed purposes. References made reasons why at risk delay. A selection different types is presented. In UK elsewhere, many tests focused earlier stages development. We therefore include description project adapting an assessment adolescent signers.
