Assessment of Salts and Organic Matter of Umm Qasser Soil, Basrah

This study was conducted in Umm Qasser, which is located Al-Zubair district, Basra. The research focused on studying the soil content of sulfates, chlorides, and organic matter. aims to measure concentrations salts matter, compare them with standard specifications, know whether these affect engineering behavior or not, chemical tests were carried out for them. results show that average sulfate 0.55%, gypsum 4.75%, chloride 0.35% matter 4.28%. shows Gypsum within effective limits except other forms fluctuation salts, from one site another, at different depths subject change time due its influence by geological environmental factors area.
