Assessment of Psychological Distress Among Indian Adolescents and Young Adults with Solid Cancer Using the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Distress Thermometer

Purpose The incidence of cancer has increased in India with a visible impact on the young population (aged 15–39 years). present study aims to evaluate psychological distress among Indian adolescents and adults (AYAs) solid using National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) thermometer. Methods demographic clinical characteristics AYAs patients (age years) were recorded. Assessment NCCN thermometer was performed at three time points over period 3 months. Distress scale self-administered questionnaire English Hindi languages handed participants points: treatment commencement (T1), 1 month, months (T2 T3, respectively) into therapy. Results Of 259 patients, 63% women 37% men; median age 34 years. In total, 71 (27%) ≤ 24 years old 188 (73%) were>24 old. Among patients>24 old, worry, nervousness, sadness, transportation, sleep top five identified problems financial support, sleep, sadness. Conclusion Adolescents experience some level associated diagnosis, effects disease, regardless stage various transitions throughout trajectory disease. is an easy useful tool for assessment cancers. Early identification burden leads effective interventions which could improve outcomes including survival India.
