Assessment of Physical activity Level and Sedentary Behaviour Among Pune City Police Personnel Using Global Physical Activity Questionnaire: A Survey

Background: Policemen being an integral part of the law implementation system have long working hours with huge workloads. They may not be able to save time for regular exercise or eat timely healthy meals which put them at high risk developing non-communicable diseases like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, lifestyle disorders such as obesity. The purpose this study was assess their existing physical activity level and sedentary behaviour using Global Physical Activity Questionnaire version 2.0. Objective: To in police officers during work, travel leisure-time also determine them. Method: A cross-sectional conducted on 270 policemen, 168 males 102 females, from 16 different station Pune city Questionnaire. Along analysis demographic factors, data analysed evaluate if participants met criteria recommended by WHO. Participants were then divided into categories depending energy expenditure i.e., MET-mins/week. Their behavior calculated terms spent sitting position. Result: Out total participants, 50.4% physically active 49.6% inactive.3.7% involved moderate-intensity workplace; 32.2% domain 54.8%in domain.12.2% vigorous-intensity only. 134 inactive, 132 low-active, 4 moderately-active a single participant highly-active category. average amount male 6.11 + 3.03 whereas female it 7.50 2.62 hours. Conclusion: Even though policemen active, most “low- active” very few “moderately-active” found “highly-active”. Sedentary more than participants. Also,51.11% percentage belonged overweight obese Thus, there is scope improving well reducing these professionals. KEY WORDS: GPAQ, activity, behavior, personnel, city.
