چکیده
Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a well-known, long-term complication of atrial septal defect (ASD) in adults, even after device closure. Left (LA) strain rate applied to the analysis chamber function has been demonstrated be an important predictor LA reverse remodeling. This study aimed determine changes closure ASD. Methods prospective enrolled adults with secundum ASD undergoing transcatheter from December 2016 August 2017. We analyzed clinical characteristics and before six months Results A total 11 patients were enrolled. The mean age was 42.6 ± 9.9 years, (54.5%) females. There no significant change conventional echocardiographic parameters global reservoir 1.17 0.34 0.85 0.30 ( p = 0.030). median conduit 0.68 (0.42–1.16) 0.41 (0.16–0.79) 0.213), respectively. contractile at six-month follow-up showed improvement compared pre-procedural (0.33 0.65 vs. − 0.43 0.38, 0.006). Conclusions functional occurred during follow-up, while right (RA) geometric not significant. remodeling proved by restoration late diastolic function.

Assessment of right atrial function with speckle tracking echocardiography after percutaneous closure of an atrial septal defect.
INTRODUCTION Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for two-dimensional (2D) strain analysis is a new tool to assess myocardial function. The aim of this study was to assess right atrial (RA) function using STE in patients with an atrial septal defect (ASD) before and one month after percutaneous closure. METHODS We prospectively examined 32 consecutive patients (nine male, 23 female) who un...

BACKGROUND Transthoracic echocardiography is used for assessment of right ventricular (RV) function. Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) is a new tool to assess myocardial function. The aim of this study was to evaluate RV function using STE in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) before and the first month after percutaneous closure. METHODS We prospectively examined 32 consecutive p...

Introduction: Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart diseases during childhood. Today, ASD closure is done by occlutech device via cardiac catheterization. ASD repair with transcatheter technique has shown high closure rate. However, coexistence of severe pulmonary stenosis and large defect in atrial septum is rare. When these two problems coexist, the result is i...

We present the case of a patient who underwent a percutaneous secundum atrial septal defect (ASD II) closure with an undersized septal occluder device. One week and one month later she experienced two transient ischemic attacks. Three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) revealed a residual patent foramen ovale (PFO) with a positive Valsalva bubble test. She underwent a second pro...
متن کاملDexmedetomidine sedation for transesophageal echocardiography during percutaneous atrial septal defect closure in adult
Atrial septal defect (ASD) is second common congenital heart disease that often leads to adult period. Intracardiac or transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is essential for percutaneous closure of ASD using Amplatzer septal occluder. Dexmedetomidine (DEX), which is a highly selective α2-agonist, has sedative and analgesic properties without respiratory depression in the clinical dose range. W...
