Assessment of Environmental Contamination by Toxic Heavy Metals in Settled Dust in Al-Diwaniyah City, Iraq

Abstract Settled dust is considered one of the environmental pollutants that are dangerous to human health and other living organisms, especially in our country, Iraq, which characterized by frequent occurrence storms paucity rainfall. Therefore, this study came order calculate amounts settled on some areas Iraqi city Diwaniyah various directions during summer seasons 2022, as well measure concentrations toxic heavy metals present know extent pollution city’s environment through use approved indicators different parts world. The results showed area located near Department nationality Al-Diwaniyah recorded highest amount dust, amounting (139.419 g/m 2 /month) month June, industrial rate period, with average (116.172 /month), general precipitation amounted (105,12 ranged between(1.113-2.695, 14.689-53.010, 16.103-42.353, 33.769-64.162) for Cd, Pb, Cu, Cr respectively. While studied was mostly containing high these metals, calls taking measures would reduce rates, regard cadmium element, whose were observed be higher than permissible global limits.
