Small Pupil Clear Corneal Phacoemulsification Surgery
The increased acceptance of topical anesthesia, phacoemulsification and foldable intraocular lenses (IOLs), have advanced the techniques of microincision clear corneal cataract surgery.1 Operating through these small (less than 3.0 mm), corneal incisions have placed new demands on surgeons to effectively and safely remove the cataract and implant the IOL without increasing the risk of corneal, ...
متن کاملDropped nucleus following phacoemulsification cataract surgery.
Twenty two cases of dropped nucleus following 1,196 phacoemulsification procedures in cataract surgery were examined retrospectively to determine the incidence, predisposing factors and visual outcomes of this dreaded complication. All the cases underwent pars plana vitrectomy and the lens fragments were removed with phacofragmotome, vitrectomy cutter or delivered through limbus. The incidence ...
متن کاملEffect of phacoemulsification surgery on hypotony following trabeculectomy surgery.
OBJECTIVE To review the effect of phacoemulsification surgery in eyes with chronic hypotony following trabeculectomy with mitomycin C. DESIGN Retrospective analysis of all eyes that underwent phacoemulsification surgery for symptomatic cataracts and had a preoperative diagnosis of chronic hypotony (intraocular pressure [IOP] </=6 mm Hg) for at least 6 months following trabeculectomy with mito...
متن کاملPupil size following dark adaptation in patients with retinitis pigmentosa.
According to the equivalent light hypothesis, molecular defects in the photoreceptor lead to a continuous activation of the photoreceptor cascade in a manner equivalent to real light. The consequences in diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa (RP) are as disruptive to the cells as real light. Two forms of the equivalent light hypothesis can be distinguished: strong - mutations in rhodopsin or ot...
متن کاملCombined phacoemulsification and removal of gas following macular hole surgery.
We describe a technique for combined fluid-gas exchange and phacoemulsification 2 weeks after macular hole surgery to achieve rapid visual rehabilitation. The procedure uses a standard cataract set and requires minimal vitreoretinal expertise. We encountered no significant complications and obtained long-term outcomes comparable to those with conventional management.
