Assessment of decrease in renal function associated with hypothyroidism

Objective: Study was aimed to see the effects of hypothyroidism on GFR as a renal function. Material and methods: Total Fifty-eight patients were included in study. Out those forty-eight female rest male. fifty eight patients, three thyroid cancer which due discontinuation thyroxine before administration radioactive iodine for Differentiated cancer.Moreover, remaining five post treatment (for hyperthyroidism) hypothyroid. All above eighteen years age with TSH value > 30µIU/ml. Pregnant lactating females excluded.Renal function tests (urea/creatinine, creatinine clearance) serum electrolytes followed by Tc-99m-DTPA scan assessment (GATES’ method) carried out all subjects twice during study, One study hypothyroid state (TSH 30 µIU/ml) other euthyroid between 0.4 4µ IU/ml). The results Student’s t-test showed significant difference functions (Urea, creatinine, clearance, values) (p-value <0.05). RESULTS: In case paired t test reveal mean 1.014±0.428, standard error 0.669 within 95% confidence interval, clearance 80.11±14.12 1.94 intervals, urea 28±12.13 1.607 intervals individual kidney is 38.056±8.56 1.3717 interval. There no outcome 2 groups. Conclusion: Hypothyroidism impairs level hence needs be prevented corrected early possible.
