چکیده

The study evaluated the effect of genotype and growing locations on biofortified cassava root genotypes’ chemical properties. Twentyeight genotypes yellow white-fleshed were planted across four geographical areas in Nigeria harvested for two seasons. This research analyzed properties (DM, VC, TC, CNP) samples using standard laboratory procedures. ANOVA, descriptive analysis, PCA, HCA was carried out generated data SAS software. Genotypes 94/0006 01/1273 had highest lowest DM values (31.9 18.3 g/100 g). Of bio-fortified tested, 76% VC lower than that averaged by check samples. Genotype 01/1331 CNP value (33.1 mg/100 g), 01/1115 (5.7 TC 1368, 01/1371, 01/1412, 01/1277 above 7.0 5 µg/g. environment a highly significant (P≤0.01) studied location interaction influenced weakly (P≤0.05). Values DM, environment-dependent, but genotype-dependent. PCA compressed to PC1, PC2, PC3, accounting cumulatively 89.1%, cluster analysis (CA) grouped into three groups based similarities their These findings are applicable identifying best-biofortified breeding programs future can be applied farmers.

Carotenoid Analysis of Cassava Genotypes Roots (Manihot Esculenta Crantz) Cultivated in Southern Brazil Using Chemometric Tools

Manihot esculenta roots rich in β-carotene are an important staple food for populations with risk of vitamin A deficiency. Cassava genotypes with high provitamin A activity have been identified as a strategy to reduce the prevalence of deficiency of this vitamin, In this study, the metabolomics characterization focusing on the carotenoid composition of ten cassava genotypes cultivated in southe...

Comparison of Leaf Proteomes of Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) Cultivar NZ199 Diploid and Autotetraploid Genotypes

Cassava polyploid breeding has drastically improved our knowledge on increasing root yield and its significant tolerance to stresses. In polyploid cassava plants, increases in DNA content highly affect cell volumes and anatomical structures. However, the mechanism of this effect is poorly understood. The purpose of the present study was to compare and validate the changes between cassava cultiv...

Evidence on the origin of cassava: phylogeography of Manihot esculenta.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta subsp. esculenta) is a staple crop with great economic importance worldwide, yet its evolutionary and geographical origins have remained unresolved and controversial. We have investigated this crop's domestication in a phylogeographic study based on the single-copy nuclear gene glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (G3pdh). The G3pdh locus provides high levels of n...

Proteomic analysis of injured storage roots in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) under postharvest physiological deterioration

Postharvest physiological deterioration (PPD) is a global challenge in the improvement of cassava value chain. However, how to reduce cassava spoilage and reveal the mechanism of injured cassava storage roots in response to PPD were poorly understood. In the present study, we investigated the activities of antioxidant enzymes of cassava injured storage roots in PPD-susceptible (SC9) and PPD-tol...

Toward better understanding of postharvest deterioration: biochemical changes in stored cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) roots:

Food losses can occur during production, postharvest, and processing stages in the supply chain. With the onset of worldwide food shortages, interest in reducing postharvest losses in cassava has been increasing. In this research, the main goal was to evaluate biochemical changes and identify the metabolites involved in the deterioration of cassava roots. We found that high levels of ascorbic a...
