Assessment of binocular vision in kids with hearing loss

Background: Hearing is the ability to perceive sound. A person said have hearing loss when he/she not able hear as well someone with a normal threshold of 25 dB or better in both ears. Binocular function plays an important role it helps coordinate eyes.Methodology: prospective study was conducted 103 subjects. After taking permission authority and impairment school, consent taken from participants. The comprehensive evaluation included demographic data, history impairment, refraction. Then binocular vision assessment (sensory, motor, accommodative, vergence tests) done.Results: children mean age 14.36±3.07years were study. 54% had severe 46% profound impairment. 9.7% refractive error among hearing- impaired children. Myopia 4%. Hyperopia 1% Astigmatism 5%. NSBVA found around 49% HI Convergence excesses 20.4%, insufficiency 3.9%, Divergence excess 1%, Insufficiency 3.9%.
