Assessing Thermal Maturity through a Multi-Proxy Approach: A Case Study from the Permian Faraghan Formation (Zagros Basin, Southwest Iran)

This study focuses on the thermal maturity of Permian deposits from Zagros Basin, Southwest Iran, employing both optical methods (Thermal Alteration Index, Palynomorph Darkness Vitrinite Reflectance, UV Fluorescence) and geochemical analyses organic matter (Rock Eval Pyrolysis MicroRaman spectroscopy) applied to Faraghan Formation along two investigated Darreh Yas Kuh e surface sections. Furthermore, an integrated palynofacies lithofacies analysis was carried out in order integrate few studies depositional environment. The Formation, which is widely distributed area, generally consists shale intercalated with sandstones pebble conglomerates lower part, followed by a succession sandstone, siltstone shaly intercalations carbonate levels at top. data confirm coastal setting evolving upwards shallow marine environment upwards. Rock Reflectance showed that samples sections fall mature postmature range respect oil gas generation window, restricting proposed previous authors. Similar results were obtained spectroscopy such as Thermal Index Fluorescence. values compared vitrinite reflectance discussed for first time late stage generation.
