چکیده
Industrial hemp ( Cannabis sativa L. <0.3% THC), a non-psychoactive chemotype of cannabis, was reclassified and made legal for growing across the United States under 2018 Farm Bill. Given that resources, knowledge, interest this novel crop are expanding rapidly, we explored possibility intercropping industrial fiber with loblolly pine Pinus taeda ) plantations, one most commercially widespread tree species in southern States. Following previous greenhouse study confirming hemp’s ability to grow pine-influenced soils, examined financial feasibility potential agroforestry system. We simulated growth information using PTAEDA 4.0, yield model, collected enterprise budget data on productivity, operating fixed costs, prices from various sources. Based capital budgeting analyses, results suggest pine-hemp can higher economic returns –at least 25% net present value—than conventional monoculture plantation. The early rotation cash flow complimentary benefits result more financially viable plantation scenario. While new research continues advance further field trials other provides valuable insights into current market conditions productivity level cultivation need be addressed succeed as an economically investment.

This study was conducted to determine the efficacy of using enhanced efficiency fertilizer (EEFs) products compared to urea to improve fertilizer nitrogen use efficiency (FNUE) in forest plantations. All fertilizer treatments were labeled with 15N (0.5 atom percent) and applied to 100 m2 circular plots at 12 loblolly pine stands (Pinus taeda L.) across the southeastern United States. Total fert...
متن کاملResponses of arthropods to large-scale manipulations of dead wood in loblolly pine stands of the southeastern United States.
Large-scale experimental manipulations of dead wood are needed to better understand its importance to animal communities in managed forests. In this experiment, we compared the abundance, species richness, diversity, and composition of arthropods in 9.3-ha plots in which either (1) all coarse woody debris was removed, (2) a large number of logs were added, (3) a large number of snags were added...
متن کاملYoung Modeling for I lntensi Loblolly Pine Plantations in Southeastern U S
Intensively managed loblolly pine stands are often subjected to a variety of silvicultural treatments at t ime of planting or shortly thereafter. However, most loblolly pine growth-and-yield models predict growth after crown closure has occurred. In this article, we describe the development and implementation of a system of equations designed to simulate growth of loblolly pine before the onset...
