Assessing Myocardial Viability in Clinical Practice

چکیده
Although assessing myocardial viability is a common cardiology practice, many physicians question the results of diagnostic methods. Nuclear medicine plays an important role in studies, but reports require interpretation clinical and pathophysiological context. this article was aimed at reviewing origin evolution viability. Here we present methods by emphasizing nuclear provide functional explanation each test type using example images. We also propose how to act these cases based on clinic examination findings, percentage affected myocardium, coronary lesion topography (proximal or distal).

Myocardial Viability: From Proof of Concept to Clinical Practice
Ischaemic left ventricular (LV) dysfunction can arise from myocardial stunning, hibernation, or necrosis. Imaging modalities have become front-line methods in the assessment of viable myocardial tissue, with the aim to stratify patients into optimal treatment pathways. Initial studies, although favorable, lacked sufficient power and sample size to provide conclusive outcomes of viability assess...
متن کاملAdded value of contrast echocardiography in assessing myocardial viability.
Although echocardiography has a well established role in the evaluation of patients with coronary artery disease, in many cases it does not provide appropriate information regarding the processes underlying ventricular wall motion abnormalities. In conditions like acute ischaemia, stunning, hibernation, infarction, and the no reflow phenomenon, improved diagnostic information might be derived f...
متن کاملMyocardial Viability- Assessment and Clinical Relevance
A number of important points concerning the application of viability assessment in clinical practice, need to be clarified as they are often source of confusion for practicing physicians. First, the patients who are being considered for myocardial viability assessment should have documented coronary artery disease, with myocardial dysfunction, and these patients should be candidates for myocard...
متن کاملAssessing equity in clinical practice guidelines.
Recognition of the need for systematically developed clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) has increased dramatically over the past 20 years. CPGs have focused primarily on the effectiveness of interventions, explicitly or implicitly addressing the following question: Will adherence to a recommendation do more good than harm? At times they have also focused on the cost-effectiveness of interventi...

OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess differences in incidence, clinical features, current treatment strategies and outcome in patients with type 2 vs. type 1 acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS AND RESULTS All 20 138 hospitalisations in Sweden with a diagnosis of AMI registered during 2011 in the Swedish Web-system for Enhancement and Development of Evidence-based care in Heart disease Evaluat...
