Assessing daylight performance in use: A comparison between long-term daylight measurements and simulations

چکیده
Climate-Based Daylight Modelling (CBDM) methods have been validated against long-term measurements in laboratory settings and found to exhibit errors small enough make such assessments useful for daylight performance prediction. However, real occupied spaces are affected by a higher number of uncertainties than or controlled conditions. This study aims at validating CBDM collected an classroom space, where monitoring system based on High Dynamic Range Imaging was installed. Four vertical regions were identified two the room’s walls, mean illuminance calculated these every time step, both from HDR images simulated results. Two simulation evaluated: 2-phase 4-component methods. Sun sky conditions simulations derived simultaneous monitored irradiation measurements. Both led moderate over-prediction HDR-derived results, when considering instantaneous means looking metrics (cumulative Useful Illuminance). Wall exposed more direct sky- sunlight characterised smaller systematic (rMBE = 4%) but similar variance (r2 0.83) situated back room 17–34% rMAE 27–37%). Further studies needed identify separate sources errors.

متن کاملThe Effect of Window Configuration on Daylight Performance in Classrooms: A Field and Simulation Study
Daylight in classrooms is a critical factor in school design, in terms of its impact on students’ health, learning and visual performance. Providing adequate amount of evenly distributed daylight and glare prevention are important challenges in classroom design. Window configuration significantly affects the intensity and uniformity of daylight. This paper aims to investigate the effect o...
متن کاملatrium and daylight performance in office buildings: effect of atrium’s roof shape on daylight reception
the first step in evaluating the visual performance and energy efficiency provided by daylight, requires an accurate estimation of the amount of daylight entering a building. the atrium concept allows the exploitation of daylight by bringing natural light into the center of the buildings, thus enhancing even a more distribution of daylight. daylight reception through an atrium is particularly b...
