Artificial Intelligence-based Life Cycle Engineering in Industrial Production: A Systematic Literature Review

For the last few years, cases of applying artificial intelligence (AI) to engineering activities towards sustainability have been reported. Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) provides a potential systematically reach higher and productivity levels, owing its holistic perspective consideration economic environmental targets. To address current gap more systematic deployment AI with LCE (AI-LCE) we performed literature review emphasizing three aspects:(1) most prevalent techniques, (2) AI-improved subfields (3) highly enhanced by AI. A specific set inclusion exclusion criteria were used identify select academic papers from several fields, i.e. production, logistics, marketing supply chain after selection process described in paper ended up 42 scientific papers. The study analysis show that there are many AI-LCE addressing Sustainable Development Goals mainly addressing: Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure; Cities Communities; Responsible Consumption Production. Overall, give picture diverse techniques LCE. Production design Maintenance Repair top explored whereas logistics Procurement least subareas. Research is concentrated dominating countries especially strong research funding focus on Industry 4.0; Germany standing out numbers publications. in-depth selected relevant helpful getting correct area which enables approach future.
