Archiving Bilingual Latin@ Oral Histories

Over the past ten years, digital archives documenting underrepresented communities have been rising. For example, oral and print historical projects about minoritized ethnic cultural heritage centers existed for decades (Daniel, 2010), yet few are fully accessible online. The increased presence of these types points not only to need document histories but also interest in making this work all. There is an urgency documenting, archiving, curating histories—audio, print, video, other ephemera—because consistently faced exclusion from majority documents. As precarious essential as is, important like one discussed here often shared in-process version. This process allows us shape consider new ways perhaps even disrupting traditional collecting accessioning methods beyond canonical (White) standards. article shows our developing a decolonized model archiving history collections. Indeed, much way we thinking collection by centering it on bilingual descriptions each item signals non-traditional and, thus, decolonial community. “Archiving Bilingual Latin@ Oral Histories” initiative make already existing archive community From stories, accessioning, website design content, seeks collaboratively with students present representing Latina/o/x Ohio.
