From the early modern age, democracy has been regarded as one of key social values, (meant to) secure equal representation all members a community in political decision-making. The roots this mode organization are explicitly linked to ancient role-model, embodied Athenian constitution 5th century. initial knowledge upon which notions founded is derived almost exclusively from preserved written sources. On other hand, considerations wider context emerged have often neglected insights into ordering communities who simultaneously inhabited European hinterland, encompassed by term Iron Age. Archaeological these communities, generated over last couple decades, indicates variety situations transcending traditional interpretation based concept chiefdom. Situating various solutions, realized its may elucidate ways functioning, well whole range possible alternatives. Finally, such comparative approach lead more detailed understanding similarities and differences between model modes denoted same term.
