Approximating Soil Organic Carbon Stock in the Eastern Plains of Colombia

In Colombia, the rise of agricultural and pastureland expansion continues to exert increasing pressure on structure ecological processes savannahs in Eastern Plains. However, effect land use change soil properties is often unknown due poor access remote areas. Effective management conservation soils requires development spatial approaches that measure predict dynamic such as organic carbon (SOC). This study estimates SOC stock Plains with validation uncertainty analyses, using legacy data 653 samples. A random forest model nine environmental covariate layers was used develop predictions content. Model determined Taylor series method, root-mean-squared error (RMSE) mean (ME) were calculated assess performance. We found explained 50.28% variation within digital content map. Raster content, bulk density, coarse rock fragment calculate region. With uncertainty, topsoil 1.2 G t ha ?1 . contributed nearly all predictions, although better determinations can be obtained a more geomorphological diverse dataset.
