چکیده
Abstract In the general problem of verisimilitude, we try to define distance a statement from target, which is an informative truth about some domain investigation. For example, target can be state description, structure or constituent first-order language (Sect. 1). legisimilitude, deterministic universal law, expressed by nomic quantitative function involving operators physical necessity and possibility 2). The special case where probabilistic law 3), has been discussed Roger Rosenkrantz ( Synthese , 1980) Ilkka Niiniluoto Truthlikeness 1987, Ch. 11.5). Their basic proposal measure between two laws Kullback–Leibler notion divergence, semimetric on space probability measures. This idea applied coexistence succession, examples may involve discrete continuous spaces 3). this paper, these earlier studies are elaborated in four directions 4). First, even though limiting cases laws, target-sensitivity truthlikeness measures implies that legisimilitude not easily reducible case. Secondly, Jensen-Shannon divergence mixed entail laws. Thirdly, new class distributions proposed, so their horizontal differences taken into account addition vertical ones 5). Fourthly, solution given for epistemic estimating degrees basis empirical evidence 6).

Approaching the Symbol Grounding Problem with Probabilistic Graphical Models
In order for robots to engage in dialog with human teammates, they must have the ability to identify correspondences between elements of language and aspects of the external world. A solution to this symbol grounding problem (Harnad, 1990) would enable a robot to interpret commands such as “Drive over to receiving and pick up the tire pallet.” This article describes several of our results that ...
متن کاملProbabilistic Weyl Laws for Quantized Tori
For the Toeplitz quantization of complex-valued functions on a 2n-dimensional torus we prove that the expected number of eigenvalues of small random perturbations of a quantized observable satisfies a natural Weyl law (1.3). In numerical experiments the same Weyl law also holds for “false” eigenvalues created by pseudospectral effects.
متن کاملStructure of Probabilistic Information and Quantum Laws
The acquisition and representation of basic experimental information under the probabilistic paradigm is analysed. The multinomial probability distribution is identified as governing all scientific data collection, at least in principle. For this distribution there exist unique random variables, whose standard deviation becomes asymptotically invariant of physical conditions. Representing all i...
متن کاملExtrinsic and Intrinsic Irreversibility in Probabilistic Dynamical Laws
Two distinct conceptions for the relation between reversible, time-reversal invariant laws of nature and the irreversible behavior of physical systems are outlined. The standard, extrinsic concept of irreversibility is based on the notion of an open system interacting with its environment. An alternative, intrinsic concept of irreversibility does not explicitly refer to any environment at all. ...
متن کاملProbabilistic Safety Assessment of Control Laws Based on Iec Standards
This paper presents a probabilistic safety assessment framework based on the international standard, IEC 61508, for control laws designed especially by reliable control theory. The framework uses Markov techniques summarized in IEC 61165 to take restoration of devices into consideration. It clarifies a contribution of reliable control to risk reduction required in IEC 61508. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC
