Application of the partial Dirichlet–Neumann contact algorithm to simulate low-velocity impact events on composite structures

Impact simulations for damage resistance analysis are computationally intensive due to contact algorithms and advanced models. Both methods, which the main ingredients in an impact event, require refined meshes at zone obtain accurate predictions of force onset propagation through material. This work presents application partial Dirichlet–Neumann algorithm simulate low-velocity problems on composite structures using High-Performance Computing. is devised parallel finite element codes running supercomputers, it extended explicit time integration schemes solve including damage. The proposed framework validated with a standard test fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites. Moreover, performance has been evaluated mesh 74M elements 2400 processors.
