Application of the Combined Teager-Kaiser Envelope for bearing fault diagnosis

Rolling element bearings are among the most important components of rotating machinery, being interface between stationary and parts. Bearing failures might cause accidents unexpected machine breakdown. Therefore, there is an need for novel condition monitoring techniques focusing towards early detection accurate identification emerging faults. The key aim this paper proposal concept Multiband Demodulation Analysis (MDA), performed using a bank bandpass Gabor filters combined with Teager-Kaiser Energy Separation Algorithm (ESA) rolling bearings. demodulation takes place in multiple frequency bands, following multiband analysis scheme, order to isolate strongest modulation each band. Finally, maximum average energy tracking process over various bands used yield short-time measurements signal demodulated instant amplitude frequency. method applied, tested evaluated on vibration signals, captured two test rigs its performance compared state art diagnostic approaches, Kurtogram empirical mode decomposition, achieving promising results.
