چکیده

The present review describes the current achievements in applications of a planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) method for diagnostics liquid films, bubbles, individual droplets, and sprays. Such flows are related with strongly curved interphases, which often results additional high errors during PLIF data quantification because laser light reflection, refraction, absorption. demonstrates that two-color approach modification regularly structured illumination resolves reflection- refraction-caused errors. latter ensures proper phase separation measurement cross-section visualization interface dynamics. former provides accurate evaluation local temperature concentration both gaseous phases even case strong variations sheet intensity. With intensified cameras, is used multi-parameter two-phase combustion sprays chambers optical access. It visualizes quantifies fuel evaporation mixing, to measure gas reveal regions pollutant formation. technique can also be easily combined particle image (or tracking) velocimetry method, evaluate heat mass transfer.

Application of Laser Induced Fluorescence in experimental analysis of convection phenomena

One of the most promising technique for temperature measurement is the Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) which utilize basic concept of optical, non-intrusive measurements and give possibility to visualize the temperature distribution in the whole two-dimensional plane at once. A major problem of a LIF is it still unsatisfactory accuracy for temperature gradient and heat transfer measurement. Th...

Quantitative planar laser-induced fluorescence of naphthalenes as fuel tracers

In planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), naphthalenes are commonly used as tracers for diesel-like fuels and fuel surrogates. Previously, such a technique was used to visualize the air–fuel mixing in a mesoscale ( 10 cm device volume) burner prototype running on dodecane as a single-component JP-8 surrogate. For quantification of this technique, the influence of temperature, oxygen quenchin...

Applications of planar laser induced fluorescence in turbulent reacting flows

The basic principles of laser induced fluorescence are described with progressive presentation of simple and multi-level interaction schemas providing the relationship between the fluorescence signal and the local concentration of the investigated species in the laser field. Essential differences between laser induced fluorescence and flame chemiluminescence emissions are given. Techniques for ...

Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence Imaging of Flame Heat Release Rat$

Local heat release rate represents one of the most interesting experimental observables in the study of unsteady reacting flows. The direct measure of burning or heat release rate as a field variable is not possible. Numerous experimental investigations have relied on inferring this type of information as well as flame front topology from indirect measures which are presumed to be correlated. A...

CO(2) Imaging with Saturated Planar Laser-Induced Vibrational Fluorescence.

We present new vibrational (infrared) planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) imaging techniques for CO(2) that use a simple, inexpensive, high-pulse-energy transversely excited atmospheric CO(2) laser to saturate a CO(2) absorption transition at 10.6 mum. Strong excitation by use of a CO(2) laser provides increased signal levels at flame temperatures and simplifies image interpretation. Becau...
