چکیده

Following previous geoelectrical researches initiated in 2009 for the delineation and characterization of seawater intrusion a freshwater aquifer Sarmatian (late Middle Miocene) age, subsurface imaging survey via 2-D electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) was conducted 2019 on outskirts Vama Veche resort—Romanian Black Sea southern coast. The organized framework field camp sponsored by Foundation Society Exploration Geophysicists (SEG)–Tulsa, OK, USA, with participation teams from University Bucharest—Department Geophysics Geological Institute Romania. A number eight ERT profiles N–S, W–E, NNE–SSW, WNW–ESE orientation 155–315 m length were imaged SuperSting R8/IP instrument (Advanced Geosciences Inc.), using deployments 32–64 electrodes at 5 spacing, Wenner, Schlumberger, dipole–dipole array configurations. processing interpretation high-resolution data indicated that intrusion, evidenced as very low (5–10 Ω m) anomalous zones starting approximately 45–49 depth, has advanced least 500 inland. results also allowed identification system fractures or faults an approximate NW–SE/WNW–ESE and, possibly, N–S orientation, might have provided potential pathways saline water intrusion.

Geostatistical Modeling of Electrical Resistivity Tomography for Imaging Porphyry Cu Mineralization in Takht-e-Gonbad Deposit, Iran

This work presents the application of a geostatistical-based modeling approach for building up electrical properties acquired from a geophysical electrical tomography survey deployed for the purpose of porphyry Cu exploration at the Takht-e-Gonbad deposit, in the central domain of Iran. Electrical data were inverted in 2D along several profiles across the main favorable zones of Cu-bearing mine...

Simulation of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Confined Aquifer Using a Point Collocation Method Based Meshfree Model

Seawater intrusion caused by groundwater over-exploitation from coastal aquifers poses a severe problem in many regions. Formulation of proper pumping strategy using a simulation model can assure sustainable supply of fresh water from the coastal aquifers. The focus of the present study is on the development of a numerical model based on Meshfree (MFree) method to study the seawater intrusion p...

Management of aquifer recharge in Lebanon by removing seawater intrusion from coastal aquifers.

This study investigates the feasibility of management of aquifer recharge (MAR) in Lebanon by designing well barriers to remove seawater intrusion from the fractured carbonate aquifers. Groundwater flow and saltwater/freshwater 50% sharp interface have been modeled along the coastal area using the Ghyben-Herzberg theory. The groundwater flow simulations have been supported by field transmissivi...

Numerical Modeling of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifer Using Finite Volume Unstructured Mesh Method

Saltwater intrusion widely occurs in coastal areas. Therefore, dissolved salts are the most common contaminants in freshwater in coastal aquifers and this contamination arises from saltwater invasion, caused primarily by human activities due to heavy urbanization. For investigation of the methods of increasing storage of fresh ground water and prevention of seawater encroachment, predicting the...

Electrical Resistivity Tomography for Coastal Salt Water Intrusion Characterization along the Ionian Coast of Basilicata Region (southern Italy)

The first results of a research activity focused on the characterisation of the salt water intrusion along the Ionian coast of the Basilicata region (Southern Italy) are shown and discussed in this study. Along the coast there are many Sites of Community Interest (SCI) subjected to a strong incidence of human activities mainly linked to agriculture and tourism. Primary and secondary salinity of...
