• Synthesis and characterisation of nanoscale coordination polymers (NCPs). Antitumoural activity NCPs. Multitreatment/theranostics nanoparticles. Biological interactions polymers. Metal chemotherapy drug delivery. Nanoscale (NCPs) have fascinated researchers over the last years. Their intrinsic theranostic properties metal ions organic ligands, encapsulation several drugs/biomolecules with excellent yields surface functionalisation, enhancing their biocompatibility targeting, remarkably impacted in prospective delivery alternatives medicine. Moreover, characteristics these nanoparticles (NPs) can be fine-tuned thanks to synthetic flexibility chemistry. For all reasons, number examples published has grown exponentially years, embracing different disciplines such as molecular electronics, sensors or nanomedicine, among others. Specifically, significant advances antitumoural applications are reported, one areas where this novel family NPs experienced a considerable advance. NCPs accomplished high sophistication degree efficiency nanoplatforms (i.e., carriers bioimaging probes) long residence time bloodstream, targeting capacities remarkable cellular internalisation. In review, an introduction emphasizing advantages for cancer treatment is included. Later on, most representative described grouped into six mean areas: i) approaches, ii) stimuli-responsive NCPs, iii) chemotherapy, iv) photodynamic therapy (PDT), v) unconventional therapeutic approaches vi) theranostics. Particular emphasis given understand encapsulation/release particles at interaction biological environments, highlighting any limitation challenges that systems facing from clinical translation perspective envisioning possible future trends will deserve further attention following
