Antitranspirants Partially Mitigate Auxin Herbicide Injury on Tomato Plants

چکیده
The use of dicamba and 2,4-D products on herbicide-tolerant crops has resulted in numerous cases off-target movement injury to sensitive plants, including tomato ( Solanum lycopersicon L.). Two greenhouse studies were conducted determine whether ‘Big Beef’ (‘BB’) or ‘Florida 91’ (‘FL’) plants pretreated with an antitranspirant, Moisture-Loc (ML) at 100 mL·L −1 , TransFilm (TF) 50 g·L Wilt-Pruf (WP) mitigated from synthetic auxin herbicides. Dicamba was applied a rate corresponding 1/200 the manufacturer’s labeled 0.56 kg ae/ha 1.06 ae/ha, respectively. At 2 weeks after treatment (WAT), treated ML WP before either herbicide exhibited symptoms, but they always less severe than those alone for both cultivars. However, shoot length measurements indicated that none antitranspirants consistently provided protection against WAT. By 12 WAT, used increased number live reproductive organs compared Floral abortion also reduced when by Although did not provide complete injury, concept using film-forming barriers may be useful mitigating some short-term effects drift plants.

as a diagnostic probe for P. syringae pv. tomato. In a survey of 75 plant-associated bacteria, pTPR1 hybridized exclusively to those strains that produced coronatine. The detection limit for this probe, which was labeled with the Chemiprobe nonradioactive reporter system, was approximately 4 x 103 CFU of lesion bacteria. During the 1989 growing season, a total of 258 leaf and fruit lesions from...

There is a common understanding that commercially traded formulations of glyphosate, such as Roundup, can be more toxic than glyphosate alone. Therefore, the EU has already taken measures to remove problematic additives known as POE tallowamine from the market. However, imports of genetically engineered plants resistant to glyphosate are exposed to high dosages of the herbicide in countries whe...

Daily transpiration rate was decreased by low soil moisture, phenylmercuric acetate (PMA) in combination with kaolinite, Mobileaf (a filmforming wax emulsion manufactured by the Mobil Oil Co.), PMA alone, and kaolinite alone in this order. At high soil moisture, dry matter was decreased by PMA but was increased by Mobileaf and by PMA + kaolinite combination. At low soil moisture, dry matter was...

SUMMARY Tumor morphogenesis on stems of Lycopersicon eseulen turn, variety Rutgers initiated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens varies with the absence of certain elements from the nutrient solutions. Examinations of the tumors on plants grown in complete and incomplete nutrient solutions revealed different quantities and sizes of vessel elements as well as differences in the quantities of soluble pr...

The metabolism of [ l l4C]2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-propionic acid was studied in excised plants and cell suspension cultures of tomato. It was rapidly taken up and metabolized by both the plants and the cultured cells. The m etabolites, isolated by extraction with aqueous acetone, separated and purified by TLC and HPLC, were identified by chemical and spectrometric methods. Conju gates with car...
