Antithrombotic and Flow Drag‐Reducing Material for Blood‐Contacting Medical Devices

چکیده
Blood-contacting medical devices are often associated with shear-induced and contact activation thrombosis. Superhydrophobic materials have shown promise to reduce flow drag forces, but not activation. Here, a strategy of selectively grafting potent anti-thrombin compound on the tips surface microstructures superhydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene foam, is presented, concurrently achieve reduction anti-thrombosis. This work shows that two approaches – Argon plasma or piranha solution treatment followed by covalent cross-linking can successfully graft drug outer foam provide anti-thrombotic functionality. By avoiding inner regions surface's properties be retained. The functional durability grafted surfaces evaluated strong water jetting, which demonstrates approach withstand substantial fluid shearing approach, although involves stronger compromise capabilities. As proposed selective applied bulk it complemented previously supplying air pressure pores bolster resistance impalement plastron dissolution, allowing material used in high pressures.

متن کاملMaterial Flow in Rotary Drums
The experimental investigation of material flow in rotary drums is studied. An equipment in the size of pilot-scale was used to collect experimental data for investigation of validity of the conventional steady-state model of material flow in rotary drums. Also, the transient data of the time required for material movement in the empty drum up to any specified cross section are also reported. T...

Piezo ceramics are the key to significant improvements over conventional electromagnetic motors for the execution of precise movements with medical equipment. The latest generation piezo ceramic motors and actuators are more compact, require lower voltage, deliver higher torque, have shorter response time, generate less heat, and are nonmagnetic and vacuum compatible compared to EM motors. With...
متن کاملA formal functional representation methodology for conceptual design of material-flow processing devices
Although there has been considerable computer-aided conceptual design research, most of the proposed approaches are domain-specific and can merely achieve conceptual design of energy flows-processing systems. Therefore, this research is devoted to the development of a general (i.e., domain-independent) and knowledge-based methodology that can search in a wide multi-disciplinary solution space f...
