Antioxidant Potential of Organic Fraction of Turi Leaf Extract (Sesbania grandiflora L.) Using DPPH Reagent

Background: White turi leaf (Sesbania grandiflora) is a plant from the Leguminosae family that isused as traditional medicine. Purpose(s): To determine antioxidant potential of white leafextract grandiflora L) using DPPH reagent. Methods: leaves (S. grandiflora)were extracted maceration technique with ethanol solvent. The extract wasfractionated liquid-liquid extraction n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. In addition,phytochemical screening was also carried out on secundary metabolite compounds contained in theethanol extract, it’s organic fractions. Results: Ethanol obtained much 160 g (16%).Fractionation 10 grams n-hexane fraction 2.9 (29%); acetatefraction 0.8 (8%); 6.1 (61%). Phytochemical showed acetate flavonoids, saponins, tannins; ethanolfraction contains terpenoids, while containstannin compounds. activity fraction, were tested radical scavenging method. assayshowed SC50 values were234.7; 66,244, 106.755 ppm, vitamin C positif control 3,006 ppm. Conclusion:white has less than 22-78 times controlpositif, so it not an antioxidant.
