Antimicrobial-Resistant Escherichia coli Strains and Their Plasmids in People, Poultry, and Chicken Meat in Laos

چکیده
Antimicrobial resistant (AMR) Enterobacterales are widely distributed among the healthy population of Indochinese peninsula, including Laos. However, local reservoir these pathogens currently not known and possible sources such as agricultural settings food have rarely been analyzed. In this work, we investigated extended-spectrum cephalosporin- (ESC-) colistin-resistant Escherichia coli strains (CST-R- Ec ) isolated from gut people, feces poultry, chicken meat (60 samples each group) in Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis based on both short- long-read approaches were implemented. The following prevalence ESC-R- CST-R- recorded, respectively: people (70 15%), poultry (20 23.3%), (21.7 13.3%). Core-genome analysis, coupled with sequence type (ST)/core-genome ST (cgST) definitions, indicated that no common AMR- clones spreading different settings. mostly possessed bla CTX–M–15 CTX–M–55 associated to IS Ecp1 or 26 . majority carried mcr-1 IncX4, IncI2, IncP1, IncHI1 plasmids similar identical those described worldwide; chromosomal possessing plasmid-mediated mcr-3 also found. These results indicate a high population, meat. While did observe same three settings, most CTX–Ms mcr-1/-3 mobile-genetic elements, indicating horizontal gene transfer may play an important role dissemination More studies should be planned better understand extent dynamics phenomenon.

Prevalence of Multidrug Resistant Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli in Cattle Meat and Its Contact Surfaces
Background: Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) are group of E. coli causing bloody diarrhea. The goal of this survey was to determine the prevalence of multidrug resistant shiga toxin-producing E. coli in cattle meat and its contact surfaces. Methods: Swab samples (n=120) were randomly collected from meat and contact surface of butchery shops in Sharkia province, Egypt. Prevalence o...
متن کاملIsolation of lytic bacteriophages against pathogenic Escherichia coli strains in poultry in the northwest of Iran
In this study, 90 internal organ samples of poultry with symptoms of colibacillosis were obtained from Maragheh poultry farms in East Azerbaijan, Iran. In total, 70 bacterial isolates were confirmed as Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains using standard biochemical tests, and antibiotic sensitivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. Antibiotics used in this study included ampicillin, pe...

Isolation and characterization of potentially pathogenic antimicrobial-resistant Escherichia coli strains from chicken and pig farms in Spain.
To ascertain whether on animal farms there reside extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and plasmidic class C beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli isolates potentially pathogenic for humans, phylogenetic analyses, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) typing, serotyping, and virulence genotyping were performed for 86 isolates from poultry (57 isolates) and pig (29 isolates) farms. E. c...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Drug–Resistant Escherichia coli in Wild Birds and Free-range Poultry, Bangladesh
Multidrug resistance was found in 22.7% of Escherichia coli isolates from bird samples in Bangladesh; 30% produced extended-spectrum β-lactamases, including clones of CTX-M genes among wild and domestic birds. Unrestricted use of antimicrobial drugs in feed for domestic birds and the spread of resistance genes to the large bird reservoir in Bangladesh are growing problems.
