Antimicrobial activity of orange juice processing waste in powder form and its suitability to produce antimicrobial packaging

Orange peel essential oil is a common value-added product from orange juice processing waste. It antimicrobial and used to produce films coatings. This study reports the first development of using as powder (OPP) instead extracted oil. The OPP amount needed for was determined by studying effects on conidia germination inhibition (minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)) mycelial growth reduction Botrytis cinerea, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium sp. incorporated into linear low-density polyethylene plastic machinery. resulting LLDPE/OPP composite film characterized activity against compound release, mechanical, barrier, optical properties.
