Antifungal potential of silver and copper nanoparticles against Lasiodiplodia theobromae causing stem-end rot of mango

Fungal species Lasiodiplodia theobromae of family Botryosphaeriaceae is a pathogen causing significant loss production and quality mango crop in Vietnam worldwide. In this study, fungal strain designed as XB1 was isolated from stem-end rot fruits, identified tested its susceptibility to silver copper nanoparticles. Strain identification based on biological characteristics sequence analysis 5.8S RNA indicated that the isolate highly close (99%) theobromae, therefore named XB1. The inhibiting effects Ag Cu nanoparticles growth L. were investigated at various concentrations. After seven days plate cultivation, nano-Cu 2000 ppm 4000 inhibited by 17.9 % 52.4 %, respectively. With about 20 nm size, effect seemed rather limited. At 400 ppm, highest inhibition 80% observed after 4 days, then fully resumed. However, another preparation, i.e. nano AgH 7 showed significantly stronger against fungus. 90% growth, comparable either carbendazim or hexaconazole. 25 no observed. results suggested high potential replace toxic chemicals controlling pathogens other fruits.
