چکیده
Novel strategies to combat orthopedic device related infections are the need of hour. We have synthesized an antibacterial peptidomimetic and characterized its suitability as a non-covalent coating material for bioceramic hydroxyapatite discs.

Thin magnesium layer confirmed as an antibacterial and biocompatible implant coating in a co-culture model
Implant-associated infections commonly result from biofilm‑forming bacteria and present severe complications in total joint arthroplasty. Therefore, there is a requirement for the development of biocompatible implant surfaces that prevent bacterial biofilm formation. The present study coated titanium samples with a thin, rapidly corroding layer of magnesium, which were subsequently investigated...

Synthesis and evaluation of cationic norbornanes as peptidomimetic antibacterial agents.
A series of structurally amphiphilic biscationic norbornanes have been synthesised as rigidified, low molecular weight peptidomimetics of cationic antimicrobial peptides. A variety of charged hydrophilic functionalities were attached to the norbornane scaffold including aminium, guanidinium, imidazolium and pyridinium moieties. Additionally, a range of hydrophobic groups of differing sizes were...
متن کاملChitosan coating as an antibacterial surface for biomedical applications
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES A current public health issue is preventing post-surgical complications by designing antibacterial implants. To achieve this goal, in this study we evaluated the antibacterial activity of an animal-free chitosan grafted onto a titanium alloy. METHODS Animal-free chitosan binding on the substrate was performed by covalent link via a two-step process using TriEthoxySil...
متن کاملDevelopment of an antibacterial porous scaffold for bone defect treatment
Background & Aim: The use of bone scaffolds is one of the new and efficient techniques for repairing bone defects that provide a suitable platform for cell proliferation and growth to repair the target tissue. One of the most important causes of failure of transplants and surgical procedures is the invasion of bacteria at the site of the complication and the development of severe infection. The...
